Description

Network Administrator II is responsible for a wide variety of tasks involving the campus network, telephone system, network-related infrastructure such as DNS and DHCP, and other tasks as needed. The position will also be responsible for management and maintenance of the CLIENT wireless network.


Essential Functions

o Work with the Network Administrator III, Team Leads, and Department Director to ensure network security and connectivity.

o Incorporate all-new endpoint devices into the network.

o Deploy, Update and Maintain current LAN, WAN, wireless infrastructure, and Voice over IP (VoIP) telecommunications.

o Troubleshoot network issues, perform hardware replacement upgrades, and restoration.

o Perform analytics to determine trends in server, network and device performances.

o Submit results and initial analysis to the team for further analysis and recommendations.

o Perform network programming to maintain adequate network security to include: firewalls, routers, switches, authentication systems and cryptography to network services.

o Document physical and logical network designs.

o Implement networking services through working on Unix, Linux, and Windows-based servers.

o Maintain host name servers and their IP addresses which involved DNS (domain name service) and DHCP (dynamics host configuration protocol).

o Maintain VLAN and IP address schemas.

o Ensure proxy authentication through NPS (network policy service) and Radius.

o Be on-call 24x7 in case of emergency network issues and to handle any outages relating to the network/telephony.

o Mentor Junior Network Administrators and provide appropriate guidance, as needed.

o Mentor and supervisor Student Assistants and provide appropriate guidance.

o Ensure efficiency, security, reliability, and usability of network equipment through proactive monitoring and automation.

o Define network policies and procedures.

o Other duties as assigned.


Required:

o Five years of experience working with IP networks and supporting systems.

o Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN''s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.

o Ability to work independently and with minimal day-to-day supervision.

o Ability to set-up and configure network equipment and appliances.

o Proven problem-solving skills in a multiple-vendor environment.


Preferred:

o Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

o Experience cable planting, repairing, management and termination.

o A Bachelor''s degree in related field or 5+years of experience.

o Ideal candidate will have experience administering Linux Servers.

o Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on server administration in a Windows environment.

o Ideal candidate will have a proven record of completing projects with implementing Extreme, HP, Cisco, Aero hive, Palo Alto, and APC technologies.

o Ideal candidate will have technical project planning, change management and documentation skills.

o VoIP experience with SIP and PRI.

o Route, Switch, Security, Firewall experience.

o OSPF and other dynamic routing experience.

o Aero hive Device and Hive Manager experience.

o Free PBX Asterisk experience.

o Cisco Call Manager Express.

o Experience monitoring network traffic and making appropriate recommendations.

o Experience with IP addressing and sub-netting.

o Certified Education in the Associated Field.
